Since its beginning 60 years ago, USC Lancaster has been purposefully positioned to be the choice for higher education in our community. The campus has become a comprehensive learning center that enrolls about 1,800 full- and part-time students from our region. USCL strives to provide an accessible and affordable student- centered educational opportunity and to enrich the regional community through a strong commitment to public service. The campus has grown in many ways since it was founded in 1959 to serve Lancaster and surrounding counties. Through a broad commitment to equity, an extensive scholarship and financial aid program, and a variety of weekday and evening course offerings, USC Lancaster seeks to make education accessible, affordable, and convenient. The current campus is approximately 150 acres and includes nearly 300,000 square feet of classroom and office space. A location in Indian Land, South Carolina was added in August 2018.
Faculty and professional staff invest broadly in the lives of our students. Beyond the academic degree options, faculty compete successfully for mentoring grants to support meaningful one-to-one research and community engagement projects that often result in our students publishing or presenting their work at conferences. From Travel Study to civic and community engagement opportunities, we prepare students for the challenges and rewards in today’s professional settings.
While we remain the largest two-year campus in the USC system, 14 four-year degrees are now available right here. Students enjoy a campus environment smaller than most four year institutions which offers opportunities for involvement in co-curricular activities leading to leader- ship skill development. Students may pursue a range of associate degrees as well as 14 bachelor’s degrees through Palmetto College and cooperative programs with USC Columbia. Palmetto College, with its online degree completion programs, has proven to be the pathway to a bachelor’s degree for South Carolinians who have family or work-related responsibilities and cannot travel or move to another campus to continue their studies.
USC Lancaster remains committed to its mission and will continue to positively influence the lives of students from our community and beyond.
